ABOUT US
Our MISSION
The PROJCT is a private personal and group training studio. Our mission is to unite our community with a common purpose of building a body and lifestyle that serves the identity of the person you want to be. To challenge what you think is possible and inspire you to do extraordinary things!
We believe in the power of perspective. When you expand the limits of your thinking, you can expand the limits of your life. Only when you can imagine a bigger life can you hope to have one. We want you to view your body and your life as a series of projcts. A collaboration between one another working to improve upon or create something new. Our focus is “Progress Over Perfection” and your health and wellness journey is not a get fit quick scheme or 30 day challenge. All too often we look for changes as quickly as possible and if we don’t see them we become discouraged or even worse, quit. We want you to think beyond just burning calories and losing weight. If we want to construct a building that will last, we don’t start on the 10th floor. We start with designing and building a solid foundation first. One that can with stand the storms and weight of the world. We want you to view our body the same way. This is a life long journey and there will be setbacks along the way but if we have built a solid foundation for ourselves we will be able to anchor and with stand any storm life throws our way. With consistent work and dedication you will overcome challenges you never thought possible and achieve what you have set out to do. We want to help you make progress and get stronger one day at a time.
our team
I grew up playing competitive basketball and football from an early age. Sports and fitness have always been a big part of my life. I didn’t always know I wanted to be a personal trainer and performance coach though. I was a Journeyman Carpenter for over 8 years before I realized I needed more out of life. Something that allowed me to have a bigger impact on the world and be truly passionate about my job.
I am passionate about bringing the community together. Creating an amazing experience by maintaining a high level of enthusiasm and encouragement through my personal training, group classes or golf experiences. I love seeing people step outside their comfort zone, shift their perspective and create opportunities for themselves to succeed in whatever path they are on.
I personally specialize in Golf Performance through TPI (Titleist Performance Institute). I want to bring the best in golf health and fitness to Edmonton and around the world. Young, old, golfer or not I believe in getting my athletes moving better so they can feel and perform better on and off the golf course.
My focus on golf has driven my desire for movement quality and efficiency in everyone that steps in the gym. I want people to think function first. How well are you moving today and what changes do you need to make to perform at your highest level on a daily basis. Making sure they take ownership to create a long term, sustainable change.
My passion for sports has always consumed my time with practice and competition. That love for practice and hard work has shaped me into the coach and personal trainer I am today. My favourite part about being a coach is getting to witness the success and triumphs people have. My goals as a coach are to effectively train each client towards their own successes. I aim to provide an empowering environment, knowledge and information, and positive experiences for people.
After being a competitive athlete in various sports (gymnastics, volleyball, and track and field), I’ve been lucky to be apart of many different conditioning programs, and training styles. I learned so much from being on a team, being a leader on a team and what it means to be a teammate. I hope to be the best teammate and leader for each of the people I get to train. I am so excited to continue to develop relationships and experiences with the health and fitness community!
My love for health and fitness began through playing both competitive hockey and football. This led me to gain invaluable training experience as I continued playing football at the varsity level for the University of Alberta where I was exposed to the effects high-level training had on my performance as well as my health. Here, I began my Bachelor of Kinesiology degree with a major in Sport Performance. This furthered my passion for fitness, while providing me the essential tools needed to translate my learning to others. While completing school I was fortunate enough to work in a Kinesiologist role at a physiotherapy clinic as well. This combination of sport, school and my work has provided me a broad and in-depth knowledge of exercise principles, while exemplifying the importance fitness has in maintaining or improving any individuals quality of life. My philosophy begins with the idea of being intentional with every movement. In order to strengthen our bodies we must create a foundation of physical literacy that allows us to feel comfortable and healthy both in the gym and in our everyday lives. I believe that this experience is only enhanced by the sense of community created by a place like The Projct and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to it.
Through my life, I was constantly involved in sports. I always had the love of movement in my blood. I constantly sought physical activity as my outlet and continued to learn about new sports and skills right through to university life.
I was also greatly interested in the psychological component of daily life. So, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with an Applied Psychology major, as well as, graduating from NAIT’s Certified Personal Trainer Program, earning my Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology certification. I have actively been in the personal training industry for over 10 years.
Having earned a great love and respect for the field of psychology and being avidly passionate about building a healthy lifestyle, it has strengthened my respect for achieving a strong body and mind. I was taught under the Solution-Focused Therapy principle of positive outcomes; focusing on personal successes rather than failures in a athletes life. This helps view the athlete as an expert of their own life. As a professional, I can lead you to design and define goals that are specific to YOU. Allowing you to have ownership of your own goals is one of my main focuses. The power of goal setting is essential in both a therapeutic and fitness trainer background. Having adopted this philosophy with my clients, I have witnessed great individual successes in my career to date.
